Webinar – The role of Flow Cytometry in the laboratory approach of Primary Immunodeficiency (2021/01/26) – 7:00 PM CET
January 26, 2021 @ 19:00 - 20:00 UTC+1
Join this webinar with our invited speaker Catarina Martins, PhD “The role of Flow Cytometry in the laboratory approach of Primary Immunodeficiency”
Primary Immunodeficiency (PID) comprises a complex and heterogeneous group of rare diseases that affect the immune system, disturbing several cell subsets and/or functions. In this webinar, Catarina Martins will highlight how flow cytometry is a highly valuable tool to assist clinicians and researchers in the diagnosis, monitoring and follow up of PID patients, contributing also to a better comprehension of pathophysiological mechanisms. Addressing the recent EuroFlow™ strategies with the PID Orientation Tube, this webinar will further explore different PID cases using this standardized analysis strategy with Infinicyt™ 2.0 software, allied to database evaluation, crucial considering the rarity of many of these entities.
Catarina Martins, PhD, is an Invited Assistant Professor of Immunology at NOVA Medical School (NMS) – Lisbon, Portugal. At NMS, she is also the Technical manager of the Primary Immunodeficiency Laboratory, addressing both diagnostic purposes and research projects, funded by national and international grants. She has contributed to several original papers published in peer-reviewed journals on this area. Since 2016, she is also Coordinator of the Biosafety Committee of NMS, and she collaborates with the National Accreditation bodies of Portugal and Ireland as technical and lead assessor for medical laboratories (ISO 17025 and ISO 15189). Catarina is also vowel of the Iberian Cytometry Society and a volunteer in the ISAC SRL Outreach Task Force.
